Ruby Mountain Cabin at Jiggs ~ Ruby Marsh Cabin

Ruby Mountain Cabin - Jiggs

Ruby Mountain wilderness cabin

This three bedroom cabin is situated on our private land adjacent to the wilderness area of the Ruby Mountains. Spectacular mountain views abound with peaks to 11,000 feet right out the front door. Deer, big horn sheep, mountain goats, chukar, sage grouse, blue grouse, snow cock, wild turkey, and doves all call this area home. Guests often view and photograph these species even from the cabin's front deck.

Brook trout and Lahontan cutthroat trout are found in nearby streams and beaver ponds. The sight of fall colors reflected in the beaver ponds is truly a special sight. Aspen trees and choke cherry are the predominant deciduous trees and for evergreens there are limber pines and pinion pines.

Ride in the RubiesSpring brings a multitude of wild flower colors. Indian paintbrush, lupine, sego lily, mules ear, all contribute to a riot of mixed colors as you ride from the cabin to the high country. Many miles of hiking and riding trails are accessed from our privately owned lands.

Things to do include hiking, cross country skiing, horse back riding, photography, birding, hunting, fishing and can all be done using the cabin as a base. If seclusion and relaxation are part of your plans, we have exactly what you are looking for at the Jiggs cabin.

This three bedroom cabin is located at Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge, a refuge made up of approximately 40,000 acres of marshes, ponds, channels, islands with meadows and grasslands, and other vegetation, and is about 45 miles from the main ranch. The beautiful snow capped Ruby Mountains tower to 11,000 feet on the west side of the lake. Ruby Marsh cabin entry

There are over 220 species of birds that regularly visit the marsh which makes for an amazing bird watching and photography paradise. The marsh provides a vital waterfowl nesting area and you will see a variety of ducks, geese, and swans. Bald eagles, golden eagles, and hawks are seen as well. The vegetation provides nesting cover for waterfowl. shorebirds, and song birds.

Ruby Valley has some rich history including stops for the Pony Express route, the Overland Mail Route, Fort Ruby Military post, Hastings Cutoff, and Overland Pass - the same route followed by the Donner party.

Mammals to be seen include mule deer coyotes, elk, antelope, and wild horses. Many of our clients have returned to Ruby Marsh again and again because it is so special.

Things to do include birding, hiking, photography, hunting, horse back riding, fishing. If you are looking for a photographers or birders paradise with an abundance of beauty, Ruby Marsh is where you will want to stay!
